ABABABAASAFDDDFABOUT THIS WEBSITEWe aim to raise awareness of the European Commission's initiative to produce a Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment (TSIA) of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Europe and Japan. This website will act as a 'go-to' digital resource to serve as a contribution to the European Commission's dialogue with stakeholders, and will provide a description of exactly what this assessment study entails.
We will provide news of the talks' progression, and detailed background about the subject. You also have the chance to contact us or request a meeting to discuss any queries you may have. What are TSIAs?Trade Sustainability Impact Assessments (TSIAs) are a trade-specific tool for supporting trade negotiations.
Developed in 1999 by DG Trade for the WTO Doha Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations, TSIAs have since been implemented worldwide in all major bilateral and pluri-lateral trade negotiations, due to their success in ensuring these agreements are evidence-based, transparent and sustainable. What we doIn November 2014, LSE Enterprise launched the stakeholder consultation process conducted as part of the TSIA of the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Using TSIA, we can aid the EU and assess the economic, environmental, social and human rights benefits of the FTA with Japan; ensuring trade negotiations are sustainable so trade can therefore benefit both parties. PublicationsLSE Enterprise has now published the final report and executive summary (in English, French and German) of the Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment of the EU-Japan FTA.
